This year the Animal Husbandry Days are a bit later than usual. It is usually held at the end of April, around the day of St George but this year it is a bit later, between 11th and 13th May.
All the seven breeding sectors of animal husbandry are presented in Hodmezovasarhely - horse, cattle, pig, sheep ,goat, poultry and fish. Through the last 19 years it became one of the most important events in agriculture and animal husbandry. The exhibition is a place where representatives of related businesses and companies can present themselves to professionals who are interested in what they can offer but it is also a place where young and old can find something to do as a family programme.
There are various programmes for the whole family from Friday to Sunday although Friday is more for the professionals. On Saturday and Sunday you can see a "spectacular" pig killing, Saturday at 10:30, Sunday at 9:30 and on both days there are different Gidran shows during the days. On Saturday there is a greyhound racing at 10:00. You can visit the fair where you can buy different traditional handmade products and children can try some games too. There are lots of places where you can have lunch or just a snack and a drink but you can also bring your own food and have a picnic on the grass.
Tickets are 1000 Huf for adults, it is free for children under 18. Parking ticket is also 1000 Huf next to the exhibition, parking men will show you the place where to go. If you stay in Hodmezovasarhely and would not like to drive to the exhibition you can get there by bus from Andrassy street or a diesel train from the train station. Buses go every hour from 9:00 until 18:00, trains also go every hour between 8:30 and 17:30.
